We had a blast soaking with all of our little friends! Arlo still asks me when our next “hot tub party” is going to be. Read more about this shoot here in the above post.
Last summer I had the opportunity to work on two children’s clothing catalogues for the Japanese department store Isetan. I had a lot of fun and met some really great people, including my lovely friend Sakiko. You can see photos and a link to the catalogues here and here.
Sakiko contacted me last fall about an article she was writing for Madame Figaro Japon’s new quarterly publication, Madam Figaro Japon Maman. She said that the magazine was going to highlight different lifestyles of working Moms around the world, and she thought we would be the perfect “Portland Family.”
I really enjoyed the interview process, and I had a lot of fun the day of the shoot! Julie Savage Lee did a wonderful job with the photos and has since become a dear friend. I love all of the connections that happen through projects like these.
If you’d like to read the interview in English, you can see the post on my personal blog here. Below are a few of my favorite outtakes.
It was such an honor to be featured in the first issue of Madame Figaro Japon Maman. Although they didn’t make it into the article, I love these photos by Julie Savage Lee. Often times Arlo comes in to my studio to say hello to my clients or give me a goodnight kiss. His smile is contagious and he brings so much joy to those around him!
There was a time when all I wanted was to move my business out of our home. When Arlo was a baby, his cries echoed through the house and it was extremely difficult for me to focus on work. Looking back, I’m really glad I stayed. I am grateful for the love and support of so many amazing clients who care about Arlo and get to watch him grow up. Working from home is a blessing, and having the ability to spend most of my time with my sweet, little boy has been the greatest gift.
Earlier this summer, I got to work on two Japanese children’s clothing catalogues for Isetan. The photos above are from the Re-Style Baby and Kids Portland Issue. It was so much fun traveling all over the city shooting these adorable kids!
