I had such a great time on this shoot for Flutter!

I think every woman should have a beautiful portrait of herself to pass along to her children and grandchildren, or to look back on in her old age. Last winter I was brainstorming about this series of portraits and called my dear friend, Judith, to share my idea. She loved it and was excited to collaborate with me! We spent the next few months planning, finding the perfect models and sketching ideas to create a look and a floral piece for each of them. With the help of Cindy Rokoff from Eve in Eden and photographer Lane Oliveri, we pulled off this entire project in one day and also managed to shoot a lookbook for Eve in Eden in a chapel down the street. I still don’t know how we did it!
I’m so excited to finally share these photos on my blog and with each of the uniquely gorgeous women who modeled for us. Thank you so much ladies! We couldn’t have done it without you.
Floral Design: Judith Edwards. Capelets: Eve in Eden. Photography: Lane Oliveri. Hair + Makeup: Kassandra Sommerville. Models: Rebecca Wall, Devon Davis, Anna Marie Cooper, Maya Attar, Shaedyn Mann, Lila Pilcher, Carolyn Grigar, Alela Diane, Sakiko Setaka.
I love the way the ladies at Eden described this shoot –
Oliveri’s gorgeous photos pay homage to romantic floral beauty and bohemian summer brides, as well as the stunning Greek Revival architecture of the 1892 constructed chapel setting. Shot on the beautiful grounds and campus of the historic St. Andrews Chapel (brides: this space is available for wedding rentals!) and modeled by Anna Marie Cooper, Shaedyn Mann and Devon Davis.
The talented teamwork of Sommerville’s hair and makeup and Edwards’ floral design perfectly complement the Eve in Eden aesthetic. The models wear vintage dresses and gowns, hand-beaded caplets and belts as well as locally designed jewels, many of which are exclusive to our salon!”
The other day Eric and I planned a photo shoot during my son’s nap time. I took the bottom photo with my cell phone and later realized that I had missed one of Arlo’s toys in my rush to clean the living room. See the tiny, green train under the couch?
I absolutely love these photos from the Eve in Eden Spring Lookbook ! Eric Rose never ceases to amaze me with the dark and mysterious beauty of his photographs. It’s always a pleasure to collaborate with Cindy and the lovely ladies that work at Eden. See more from this shoot in the official Eve in Eden lookbook.
Eden just released five incredibly beautiful Holiday Lookbooks. I feel so furtunate to have had the opportunity to work with such a talented, creative group of people. Here are some of my very favorite photos from the five books.
My dear friend, Shayda, has a wedding and party styling business called General Merriment. She is also my neighbor and the mama of my son’s best buddy, Ellis. A couple of months ago Shayda asked if my husband, Jon, and I would be the bride and groom models for her lookbook photos. Ummm…Yes!! We got married twelve years ago, and I absolutely hate our wedding photos. (Fake, orange tan, bleach blonde hair…enough said.)
With the help of our wonderful friends, Judith, a floral designer, and Myles, a photographer, we planned such a beautiful faux wedding. It was a gorgeous day with blue skies and an incredible view of Mt. Hood. Marta was the perfect orchard maiden, and both of the kiddos did a great job eating apples and looking adorable. Jon wasn’t exactly thrilled about being a “model” but he looked so handsome and kept me laughing all day! We had a blast, and I am really happy with how these photos turned out! I can finally frame a wedding-like photo of us, yay!!
If you need help styling your wedding or next big event , you can find Shayda’s amazing garlands, backdrops and other installations in her etsy shop.

Of all of the stores in Portland, Eden is one of my very favorites. I love the brightly colored walls, the music they play, and the amazing collection of old and new things that makes me want to stay all day and browse. The owner, Cindy Rokoff, is such a kind, thoughtful woman and she has the most impeccable taste! I was delighted to have the opportunity to work with her, and all of the other ladies that took part in this shoot. I love this description from Eden’s website:
“A few weeks ago, the Eden ladies assembled at proprietress Cindy Rokoff’s house for a fun shoot. Using pieces acquired from a few recent vintage scores, as well as a heaping helping of jewelry and accessories from around the shop, we shot a number of vignettes around Cindy’s property, taking advantage of her own amazing decor items as well as a slew borrowed from the shop. We’re pleased to present the finished results – a beautiful, moody and colorful look at autumn through the eyes of Eden.”
These are my Instagram photos from the Eden Circus inspired costume shoot last week. Unfortunately, I did’t have time to get all of the looks photographed. It was such an intense day on every level! Intensely beautiful, colorful and dramatic. This was my dream job, the most exciting day of my twelve year career as a stylist! I could hardly sleep for two days before and after the shoot, and I was dreaming of costumes, big hair and elaborate makeup when I did.
There were seven models, each with one to four costume changes. Cindy and the Eden ladies gave each of the different looks a title, which really helped me to envision what each character should look like. One of my characters was the “Backstage Bitch.” I totally felt like I was backstage at the theater, getting everyone ready, sending them onto the stage to be photographed by Eric Rose. This lookbook is going to be an incredible work of art. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to work on this project.
